Going through this without discovering blatant errors in the form of bad instructions is like walking through a dense mine filed hoping for the best.
I struggled to get out of chapter two without running into error after error after error. Too many to list. The last straw was when I ran into page 62, chapter 2. It instructs the reader to navigate to the Rendering menu, Screen Capture, Capture Still Image to capture a veiwport image. Problem is that there does not exist a Screen Capture menu located within the Rendering menu.
The Screen Capture menu is found in the Tools menu instead. Just to think I borrowed mony to buy this shameful book. I've got to return it or I won't sleep! I guess it was thrown out there for suckers like me who dared to think that someone actually took the time to put this together.
It should be investigated as a crime why thy charged so much for this garbage. Don't be a fool like me, stay away from this book!!!! The book came lose inside an Amazon box and being tossed about by FedEx the thing had bent corners. Then I started to digest its contents and found it hard to follow and poorly written. In trying to do some of the so-called tutorials I was amazed at how confusing the instructions were and not only that, the instructions were continuously wrong.
Things like flip it horizontal when it needed flipped vertical, etc. They provided one file that showed how a covered wagon should look when done and even whoever did the wagon had it wrong. Lettering on one side of the wagon went up over the top of the wagon while the lettering was places lower in its proper place on the other side.
Take my advice It is my hope that someone will release an edition that has all of the mistakes taken out of it. I can't think of any book that I've ever bought that was such a mess This book is full of incorrect information. Half of the commands in the tutorials don't exist in 3ds Max I would never had bought this book if I knew how bad it is. Very well written and thorough. The thing weighs about 15 lbs! A very good reference book for any Max user.
Excellent book. If someone could please help me it would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking for hours but to no prevail.
